Gal Trip

Gal trip is the most interesting event, organized by university geological society. Gal trip of year 2019 was a two day event, held on 29^th and 30^th of June 2019. Samanala Wewa dam and the Samanala Wewa Hydroelectric power station were visited on the first day, and on the second day, Garnet sand beach at Kosgoda and Ussangoda Serpentinite body were visited. A great experience was taken by the students of all four batches of the Department of Geology with the guidance of Dr. Jagath Gunatilaka, senior treasurer of the University Geological Society, Dr. Nanda Balasooriya, demonstrators of the department of Geology.

This event is mainly focused to give an idea about a good field work and to improve the inter-relationship among the society members. Valuable geological sites are visited in this trip. This field trip give a camping experience to students and also this is a great opportunity to first year students to get as idea about future field works
